Principal's Welcome
It is a privilege to introduce myself as the new Principal of The Skipton Academy. Having been part of this wonderful school community for the past seven years, I am delighted to continue our journey of growth and success in this new role. I would also like to thank Mr. Richard McManus, who now takes on the role of Executive Principal for Moorlands Learning Trust, for his outstanding leadership and support in shaping the academy into the thriving school it is today.
At The Skipton Academy, we are proud of our brilliant students, whose hard work, talent, and determination inspire us daily. They are supported by a dedicated and passionate staff team, who go above and beyond to create an ambitious and caring learning environment. Equally, we are fortunate to have the encouragement of supportive parents and carers, who play such an important role in helping every child to flourish.

The careers support programme at The Skipton Academy focuses on encouraging each student to consider a wide range of career pathways and provides the support to make their goals a reality.
Admissions and Transition
Admission and transition are crucial in ensuring that students at The Skipton Academy are prepared for the next step in their educational journey. The curriculum is designed to be balanced, challenging and relevant.

Over 160 Students Trained in CPR
During the national Restart a Heart Day, over 160 Year 7 students were trained in how to deliver CPR and also how to use an AED.

Skipton Achieves Best GCSE Results
The Skipton Academy marked its best ever GCSE results, celebrating student resilience, staff dedication, and a bright future ahead.
About our trust
Moorlands Learning Trust (MLT) was formed on July 1st 2017, when Ilkley Grammar School converted its single academy trust to multi-academy trust (MAT) status. The Skipton Academy joined in 2019 as our first partner academy, and during 2023/24 we welcomed Ashlands Primary, Burley Oaks Primary, Eastburn Primary, Menston Primary and Nidderdale High School. In 2025, Benton Park School became the first secondary school in Leeds to join the Trust and in the same year, Talbot Primary School joined the Trust as the first primary school from Leeds.
